Tributes have poured in for Zoleka Mandela, the granddaughter of African icon Nelson Mandela following her death aged 43.
The sad news was made known by her sister Zwelabo Mandela on behalf of her family in the early hours of Tuesday.

The statement read “On Monday, September 18th, Zoleka Mandela was admitted into hospital for ongoing treatment for metastatic cancer to the hip, liver, lung, pelvis, brain and spinal cord.
Recent scans revealed significant disease progression including fibrosis in the lungs as well as several emboli.
“Zoleka passed away on the evening of Monday, September 25th surrounded by friends and family. Our sincerest gratitude to the medical team that took care of her.”

Celebrities and fans of the esteemed author have paid tribute on social media.
Zoleka Mandela was loved, her talent and creativity was unmatched and beyond compare.
In 2022 Zoleka confirmed she had cancer in her liver and lungs.
The author, who documented her 10-year breast cancer journey in an autobiography, When Hope Whispers, and who was known as a cancer survivor, took to Instagram to announce the doctors’ reports after her oncologist performed a CAT scan.
