Bryoni Govender is brimming with excitement as she prepares to represent South Africa at the 72nd Miss Universe pageant, scheduled to take place in El Salvador on November 18, 2023.
The Miss South Africa organization made the official announcement, introducing Bryoni Govender, a qualified attorney, as South Africa’s representative at the prestigious pageant.

In a statement, the Miss SA organization expressed their enthusiasm, stating, “We’re thrilled to introduce the incredible @bryoni.ng as @missuniverse South Africa!”

Bryoni’s selection is particularly significant as she will be the first person of Indian heritage to represent South Africa since Kerishnie Naiker, who was Miss SA 1997 and reached the Top 10 of the Miss Universe pageant in 1998.
Reflecting on her upcoming journey, Bryoni, a law graduate, emphasized the power of being different and expressed her commitment to representing her country on the international stage.
She has already begun extensive preparations for the competition. Bryoni also conveyed her excitement about representing South Africa and her dedication to women’s empowerment and equality in the country.
She outlined her advocacy efforts, which include implementing mentorship programs, business and leadership courses, entrepreneurial and job training programs, and skills development training for girls and women at various educational levels, from secondary to post-tertiary education.
