Marking South Africa’s debut into the realm of contemporary Western series, Outlaws is the brainchild of Tshedza Pictures’ Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon.
These masterminds, recipients of five Best Scriptwriting SAFTAs over four years for acclaimed shows like The Republic and The River, bring their storytelling prowess to this explosive narrative.
Notably, Outlaws is Tshedza’s second Showmax Original, following the success of Adulting, which broke first-day viewership records on the platform in March 2023.
Emerging talents Lehlohonolo Mayeza and Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku share the screen as the lead characters Leruo Tseole and Sihle Biyela.
The cast also features familiar faces like Siyabonga Shibe, a two-time SAFTA nominee, as the Biyela patriarch, and Mmabatho Mogomotsi, known for her role in Yizo Yizo, as the Tseole matriarch.
Additionally, SAFTA winner Nolwazi Shange, Mnqobi Kunene, winner of Men’s Health Cover Guy Challenge, and the acclaimed Thembinkosi Mthembu also contribute to this remarkable ensemble.
