Sicelo “Seekay” Buthelezi, the multi-talented entertainer, is making waves as the latest addition to SABC1’s hit show, Skeem Saam.
Set to make his debut on April 2, Sicelo will be portraying the character of Tobias (Toby) Maswahla, a university student with a mischievous streak. After getting expelled and causing trouble in Johannesburg, Toby is forced to move to Turfloop, where the drama unfolds.
For Sicelo, joining the Skeem Saam family has been an amazing experience. “It’s a different environment but it feels like home. I’m enjoying it,” he says. This talented artist has been on a mission to cement his name in the entertainment industry, exploring music, dance, and acting.
Last year, Sicelo showcased his versatility as a musical act with the release of his single, “Harare.”
The song beautifully fuses Afrobeats and Chimurenga music, a Zimbabwean genre popularized by Thomas Mapfumo and Oliver Mtukudzi. Sicelo describes it as a track that will make your woman dance and fall in love, emphasizing the universal languages of music and love.
His passion for entertainment began during his time at Ingqayizivele High School in Thembisa, where he joined the local theater and realized his dream of becoming an entertainer.
Since then, Sicelo has shot to stardom, releasing his debut single, “Ben 10,” and featuring on two songs on the amapiano mixtape, “Black is Brown Vol 1.” He even showed off his rap skills on a hip-hop track titled “Asbonge” with Major Steez.
