Even in death, Kiernan Forbes (AKA) is ruling and creating a significant impact on his music. The contemporary music maker recently made history at the just concluded African Muzik Magazine Awards AFRIMMA.

AKA’s fourth album “Mass Country” has been named “Album of the Year”

The 14-track album features artists such as his girlfriend Nadia Nakai, as well as Khuli Chana, Nasty C, Emtee, Sjava, KDDO, Musa Keys, Gyakie, Yanga Chief, and Manana.

“ Mass Country” by Kiernan Forbes also known as AKA was on 24 February 2023, two weeks after he was murdered in Durban.

The album was a letter of farewell to South Africa and had represented on major stages worldwide.

The event, the 10th edition of AFRIMMA, was held on Sunday night September 17 at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, Texas.

The African Muzik Magazine Awards (commonly abbreviated as AFRIMMAS) are an annual African music awards ceremony aimed to reward and celebrate musical works, talents, and creativity around the African continent and accommodates all musical genres including Afrobeats, Afro-Trap, Highlife, Assiko, Bongo, Genge, Kwaito, Soukous, Coupé décalé, and Lingala.

The event was founded by businessman Anderson Obiagwu and is presented by Big A Entertainment.
The first awards ceremony took place in July 2014 at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas.
