“Separations between parents are never easy, especially for the kids. Viewers will remember that Ms. Madikizela did not accept Zodwa and Bongani’s relationship. She went as far as using the kids to destroy their relationship,  but after some time they ironed out their differences.

“Ms. Madikizela accepted Zodwa as the leading lady in Bongani’s life. Eventually, she gave them her blessings to get married,” she said.

According to Zinzi Nsele, the storyline shows the importance of co-parenting in blended families.

“We live in a society where most children are raised by single parents or by step-parents. So, this storyline reflects our society and families. It also shows that children can benefit from co-parenting,” she said

She said that parents splitting can be very daunting for the children who are then left to deal with difficult situations.

“This is traumatic for children and it could lead to more problems. I’d say this storyline is not just entertaining but it is educational. As an actress, I’ve also learned a lot from Ms Madikizela and I’ve grown.

“Through acting I’ve walked in her shoes, I’ve experienced her pain and I’ve seen her finally accepting Zodwa,” she said.

“My wish is for couples to learn from this storyline and treat each other better even after breakups. You don’t have to be friends but for the sake of children, parents can treat each other better.” She added.
