The South African music industry mourns the loss of Zahara, the talented singer and songwriter.
As fans gather to bid her farewell, her second memorial service will be held at her hometown on Friday, 22 December at the East London International Convention Center (ELICC) in the Eastern Cape.
The outpouring of love and support from her fans has been evident on social media, as they express their sadness and pay tribute to the late artist.
Zahara, whose real name was Bulelwa Mkutukana, passed away in a Johannesburg hospital on Monday, 11 December, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She had been battling a short illness, reportedly linked to liver complications. Following the memorial service, her funeral will take place on Saturday, 23 December at the ELICC.
This is the second memorial service for Zahara, with the first one held at the Rhema Bible Church in Randburg on Thursday, 14 December. The singer’s body was transported to her hometown in a white casket, a poignant moment for her family who were seeing her for the first time since her passing.
Zahara’s sisters, Lumka and Bandezwa Mkutukana, are still struggling to come to terms with her death. In an interview, they expressed their disbelief and the feeling of being robbed of someone precious to them.
They described her departure as a dream and shared their hope that she would call to update them on her travels.
