Nadia Nakai, the vibrant artist known for her impact on the music scene, recently opened up about how cyberbullying played a significant role in her decision to venture into the cosmetics industry.

In an exclusive interview with TRUE LOVE, the 33-year-old artist candidly discussed the hurdles she encountered online and how they inspired her to create her makeup line.

Reflecting on her experiences, Nadia Nakai revealed that she faced harsh critiques and disparaging remarks about her appearance, with a particular emphasis on her facial looks.

She shared a specific incident where she trended on social media for not wearing makeup on a Valentine’s Day date. The unflattering picture led to hurtful comments and comparisons to Shrek, which deeply affected her.

As a result, Nadia Nakai felt the need always to wear makeup, even when going grocery shopping. She realized that she had to learn how to do her makeup to regain her confidence.

“Many many years ago, I trended on social media for not having makeup on. It was Valentine’s Day [and] I went on a date with my boyfriend then and I didn’t have makeup on and I didn’t have a wig on.

“And I had my natural hair and it was tied back and the picture was very unflattering, start there, because I actually do look pretty without makeup. But I think my face was in between a facial expression.

“So I looked like Shrek. So, I trended and that really broke me. And I got to a place where I wouldn’t even go grocery shopping without makeup on my face and I had to force myself to learn how to do basic makeup.

“And then I got into it and even though the way it started was probably very heartbreaking and sore, it kind of evolved into just being able to learn how to just do my own makeup sometimes and not just from what I went through but also just expense-wise. Glam squads are expensive.”

This initial struggle eventually evolved into a passion for cosmetics, not only as a way to enhance her appearance but also as a cost-effective alternative to hiring expensive glam squads.

In December, the talented artist unveiled her makeup line, Naked Without. The launch of her brand was a fulfilling moment for Nadia Nakai, as she continues to pursue her dreams and prove her resilience in the face of cyberbullying.

She expressed her excitement and gratitude to her fans, emphasizing that the makeup line is a personal endeavor without any brand partnerships. Nadia Nakai’s journey from cyberbullying victim to cosmetics entrepreneur is a testament to her strength and determination.

Despite the initial heartbreak caused by online criticism, she transformed her pain into a thriving business venture. By creating her own makeup line, she not only empowers herself but also inspires others to embrace their individuality and find their own path to success.
