The murder of AKA, one of South Africa’s most remarkable talents, continues to captivate the media and the public.

As individuals connected to the rapper’s life desperately seek answers, author and journalist Melinda Ferguson has stepped into the spotlight with her book, “When Love Kills,” which delves into AKA and Anele’s love story.

In a recent interview on Capetalk radio, Ferguson boldly stated that AKA had a knack for making enemies. She mentioned the infamous beef he had with fellow musician Cassper Nyovest and Nigerian superstar Burna Boy.

“AKA was a big mouth,” Ferguson remarked. “He was brilliant, talented, and a genius producer and MC. He was probably South Africa’s most successful hip hop star, but he made a lot of enemies in his life.”

While Ferguson dismissed the idea of Cassper Nyovest being involved in AKA’s death, she acknowledged the anger from Nigerians due to AKA’s feud with Burna Boy.

Additionally, rumours circulated that the club underworld, where AKA had invested in a club in Durban, may have played a role in his demise. Allegations of financial disputes and owing money to certain individuals were further added to the list of potential suspects.

Interestingly, Ferguson also mentioned a theory involving a group of angry gender-based violence (GBV) activist women who may have hired someone to harm AKA.

These various ideas surrounding AKA’s murder offer intriguing possibilities, but as Ferguson admitted, she does not know who is responsible.

Unsurprisingly, Ferguson faced backlash from AKA’s fans once news of her book emerged. The Forbes family, AKA’s relatives, distanced themselves from the project, deeming it “distasteful and opportunistic.”

However, Ferguson defended her work, stating that she did not require permission from the families to write the book. As a journalist, she argued that no one sought permission when reporting on the deaths of Anele Tembe or Kiernan Forbes.
