EFF began at the bottom a decade ago and has become one of the most popular political parties. At the party’s 10th anniversary celebration over the weekend, Julius Malema, its founder and leader, effectively launched its 2024 election campaign.
He stood up and declared that the Red Berets would defeat the African National Congress in the upcoming elections. Based on the results of the past national elections, the party had 10.8% of the electoral vote.
As part of the EFF’s 10th-anniversary celebrations, Malema went to a settlement of low-income residents close to the Marikana mine on Wednesday. To “please the ancestors,” the party killed 15 cows and prepared traditional sorghum beer.
Then, families of the Marikana mine workers who had been killed, UDM leader Bantu Holomisa, and controversial businessman Adriano Mazzotti attended a fundraising dinner.
Tables at the gala dinner were sold so that the public and businesspeople could speak to the EFF leadership. Thousands of EFF supporters turned Johannesburg red on Saturday for the significant event.

Politics aside, what @Julius_S_Malema has gone and done is to show that not a very negative is really a negative in your life.
When the ANC closed its doors to him, God was pushing him towards a bigger goal, which he may not have realized should he have stayed under someone… pic.twitter.com/1KSRxqtBUu
