There is a big debate currently trending online about the origin of Amapiano. DJ Maphorisa, one of the most prominent producers in South Africa has taken to Twitter to advise younger generations of the genre.
In a video shared by the DJ, DJ Maphorisa said it is very important for artists in South Africa to embrace unity and foster a strong community of peaceful coexistence in the entertainment industry.

Accordidng to the DJ, Amapiano artists in South Africa lacked community awareness which is a very important part of the growth of the industry. He says South Africans should commune with Nigerians through collaborations because Nigerians are more advanced in pop culture and business.
“For me, I feel like South Africans, what we need to do, what’s important, I feel like we need to collaborate with other countries, try to understand the business and how they structure their business and then learn from it” he said.
