The glitz and glamour of Miss South Africa 2024 took an unexpected turn when a video of Lerato Kganyago snubbing a woman widely believed to be Chidinma Adetshina surfaced on social media.
Shot on a smartphone and shared by a vigilant Twitter user, the video shows Lerato, one of the event’s judges, seemingly giving the cold shoulder to a lady trying to greet her. The woman’s face isn’t clear, but online detectives are convinced she’s Chidinma.
Days before this incident, Lerato Kganyago found herself in hot water for supporting the 23-year-old model, Chidinma.

Facing substantial backlash, Lerato did what any media-savvy individual would do: she tendered an apology to those offended by her support. The apology was supposed to quell the flames but instead seemed to fan them.
Was Lerato really avoiding more public scrutiny? One Twitter user succinctly summed it up: “Chidinma Adetshina needs to know when to read the room.” Another tweep noted,
“Lerato already apologised. She doesn’t want problems.” Whether Lerato snubbed Chidinma to dodge more drama or not, it seems clear the incident is open to interpretation and adds yet another chapter to the public’s favorite reality: celebrity drama.
Chidinma pulled out of the competition following controversy surrounding her enrolment in the Miss South Africa pageantry and was later invited by the Nigerian Miss Universe competition to participate in the ongoing competition.
