Renowned singer and award-winning songwriter Bulelwa Mkutukana, better known by her stage name Zahara, expressed deep gratitude to the Cape Town community after being pleasantly surprised by multiple performances upon her arrival at the airport.
The surprise unfolded as Zahara visited Cape Town for a scheduled performance at the Botanik Social House.
Hailing from the small village of Phumlani in the East London settlement of the Eastern Cape, Zahara gained popularity for her hit single, ‘Loliwe.’
Her musical journey began at the age of 6 when she joined a school choir, showcasing her powerful voice.
By age 9, she had progressed to the senior choir. Notably, Zahara’s Afro-soul music, delivered in her native language, Xhosa, and accompanied by her guitar playing, sets her apart in the industry.
Her debut album, ‘Loliwe,’ released in 2011, achieved unprecedented success, with the initial batch selling out within 72 hours. Zahara’s life and healing journey are now chronicled in her reality show, ‘As I Rise.’
Sharing a video capturing the heartwarming moment of surprise performances, Zahara expressed her appreciation in a social media post:
“Cape Town: My heart is so full with your love and support 🌸. Enkosi kakhulu for a beautiful experience at the Botanik Social House 📍this weekend, and for joining in the support of the Zahara Foundation.
