KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, has provided an update on the ongoing investigation into the tragic murders of renowned South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

During a briefing on Wednesday, September 6, Mkhwanazi revealed that they have successfully identified a specific firearm that was employed in the fatal shootings that occurred on February 10 in Durban.

“We, as the SAPS, have identified several individuals who, after discussions with the NPA, may be brought in for questioning.”

Mkhwanazi went on to elaborate that numerous individuals were involved, several phone calls were made during the incident, and video footage of the event was made public.

“The investigative team has already begun the process of analyzing over 6 terabytes of data.

These phones belong to individuals of interest who may possess crucial information, such as those who were in the vicinity, communicated with the deceased, or had associations with the victims,” stated Mkhwanazi.

Additionally, he mentioned that interviews have been conducted, and they have identified several getaway vehicles.

“We have identified a number of vehicles that were utilized, some as getaway vehicles and others as transportation. Some may have been used by individuals afterward, and we consider them as suspects,” Mkhwanazi added.
