Lynn Forbes, the mother of the late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, recently clarified the controversy surrounding her granddaughter Kairo’s performance of her father’s song at the Joburg Day concert.
Kairo took the stage to perform AKA’s track “Company” in front of a packed audience, and she was later joined by AKA’s father, Tony Forbes, and the late rapper’s girlfriend, Nadia Nakai.

She explained that Kairo had expressed her intention to perform at Joburg Day, saying, “I’m GOING TO perform at Joburg Day.
I don’t want anyone to go on stage with me. I’m going to sing my daddy’s voice, by myself.” Lynn emphasized that Kairo’s decision was entirely her own, and no one forced her to perform.
Kairo didn’t say, “ I WANT to perform at Joburg Day”
She said, “ I’m GOING TO perform at Joburg Day. I don’t want anyone to go on stage with me. I’m going to sing my daddy’s voice, by myself.”

We are never gonna agree on this one my friend, so let’s agree to disagree. She’s only 8 I don’t believe she walked up to them and said “hey…. I want to perform at joburg day”, so regardless it will never sit well with me and that’s just me.
