Zakes Bantwini pays respects at his mother’s grave carrying his Grammy Award. His late mother, Lala Ngoxolo Ziko passed on in 2007.

Since receiving the prize, the musician has shown his thanks and honor to numerous notable people.

Zakhele Madida professionally known as Zakes Bantwini, is a South African singer, record producer and businessman. He has worked with fellow musician Black Coffee, with whom he collaborated on the song “Juju”

He posted a picture of himself on Instagram at his mother’s gravestone, placing the award on it. “I did it, Mom,” he wrote as the caption for the photo.

His fans were moved by the photo and went to the comment section to console him.

His wife, Nandi Madida, commented that there is “nothing like a mother’s legacy and manifestation.”

Zakes, Wouter Kellerman, and Nomcebo won the Best Global Music Performance category at the 65th Grammy Awards in the early months of this year.
