A truck accident on Kloof Nek Road in Cape Town resulted in six injuries, including former Miss South Africa Cindy Nell-Roberts.
The incident occurred when a truck collided with several vehicles before overturning, prompting the South African Police Service (SAPS) to initiate an investigation into reckless and negligent driving.
Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg reported the crash at approximately 10:15 am on Kloof Nek Road in the Cape Town Central area.
The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.
Cindy Nell-Roberts, renowned for her achievements as a former beauty queen, TV presenter, and CEO of the cosmetic group Cometix, was en route to the Foreshore to film a program for ViaTV when the accident occurred.
She recounted the harrowing experience from her hospital bed, describing her vehicle being dragged for 100 meters and spinning out of control.
Mayco member for safety and security, JP Smith, confirmed that the truck driver was also among the injured.
Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes and avoid the accident site, as road closures remained in place while emergency personnel worked to clear the wreckage.
As the investigation into the accident continues, the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the potential risks that can arise from reckless driving.
