While many countries experience snowfall yearly, it is a very rare occurrence for South Africans who last experienced snow fall in the country twelve years ago.
Some South Africans in Johannesburg have reacted to the rare thundersnow with excitement and confusion after they woke up to a snowy monday. While the snowflakes have left people with chattering teeth, most are loving every minute of the snowfall and have headed online to share clips of themselves absolutely enjoying the snowfall.

Some have made funny comments about the snow. One person even remarked that today should be declared a public holiday so that people can enjoy the snowflakes.

However, provinces that are hit by snow are advised by the Eastern Cape transport department to be careful.
