Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Simphiwe Mlongo has led the arrest of four suspects for allegedly kidnapping a Pietermaritzburg pupil
The 17-year-old pupil was kidnapped by his captors on his way home by unknown men who pretended to be men of the police force.
The captors immediately fled the scene with their victim before demanding a ransom of R11.5 million. Police say the victim was rescued from an outbuilding on the KZN south coast.
The victim’s mother Bhasharat Khalid disclosed that she was shocked to have received a call from unknown men demanding ransom.
Upon rescue, the victim, Musa says he is happy to be united back o his family, recounting how he had to put up with the terrible conditions while in captive.
His family expressed gratitude to the police team for their swift response to the situation and said they are happy to have their son back home.
