The sudden and tragic passing of MC, DJ, and businessman Peter “Mashata” Mabuse has shocked the music community. Mashata was shot and killed in Soshanguve, northwest of Pretoria, on Sunday, 21 April, following a gig at Epozini Lifestyle in the same township.
A memorial service will be held to honour Mashata’s life on Thursday, 25 April.
The service will take place at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Pretoria West Campus from 14:00 to 18:00. This will be an opportunity for friends, family, and fans to come together and pay their respects.

In the evening of the same day, a tribute concert will be held at Emperors Palace. Organized by Paul Mtirara, Wilson B Nkosi, DJ Young, and Mashabela, the concert aims to celebrate Mashata’s musical legacy.
The proceeds from the show will be handed over to the Mabuse family, providing some support during this difficult time.
For those who wish to express their condolences with flowers, they can be dropped off at Mashata’s family home in Block U, on Rina Street in Mabopane, on Saturday, 27 April, between 14:00 and 17:00.
The final farewell will take place on Sunday, 28 April, at the Akasia Community Hall. The funeral service will begin at 08:00, allowing friends, family, and fans to reunite to honour Mashata’s memory.
