Rapper and BET Award nominee K.O has offered some wise counsel to aspiring rappers. K.O has come a long way as an artist, between 2005–2009 he was part of rap group Teargas.
In 2013, K.O joined forces with Teargas bandmate, Ma-E, and music and marketing executive Thabiso Khati to form an entertainment company, Cash time Life, which he (K.O) became its first artist.
The rapper claimed that if a budding rapper wants to get their big break, solid music alone is insufficient.
Up-and-coming rapper Sydney 031 asked the K.O, who already has a foot in the door, for some advice while giving it to him.
My brother, what I want to know is what can I do to blow up. I got good records, and my Instagram is blooming, but nothing. My EP as well. What must I do at this point I got good music,, but I am scared to release it as it might go to waste like my last EP.” asked Sydney 031.
KO gave Sydney 031 advice on how he can get started and gave him an idea of how every choice in the early stages of his career needs to be approached.
He shared the importance of branding and marketing and how he should treat his career. “If you can’t do it on your own, try to get signed to a credible record label or get a proper management deal at least to help with the marketing. Build your brand.”
“Good music alone is not enough.
Are you marketable?
Do you have star power? Start there.” wrote K.O
