South Africa’s successful rapper, Cassper Nyovest has revealed what has been going on behind the scenes in his music career.
He told his loyal followers how he was focused on what others thought about him when he first ventured into entertainment and how he struggled to deal with the pressures of fame.
In a post shared on Instagram by the rapper, Casper said that it took him a while to discover that instead of focusing on competing with his industry counterparts, he should have been focused on working toward being better at his craft each day.
Taking a look at his life, he said his ultimate goal and plan for the next chapter of his life is to be better than he was yesterday.
“Most of my career/life was fuelled by me competing or wanting to be better than my haters/enemies. The next chapter in my life is motivated by me yearning to be better than my past. Whoever I was yesterday, I’m kicking his ass today!!!! God engineering!!!” he wrote.
Casper’s message comes as a reminder that when we compare ourselves to someone else we will always have to rank ourselves as either superior or inferior to that other person, and neither of those assessments will ever be factually accurate.
Admittedly, a person can be better than someone else at one particular task, but that doesn’t qualify them as superior.
Attempting to gauge how we are doing in comparison to someone else will never lead to an accurate evaluation because no two people are ever exactly alike as every individual is wired differently and comes with different talents, strengths, and weaknesses.
So next time you ever feel like your life isn’t going as planned, it may be a sign for you to go back to the drawing board and make some adjustments.
