The details of Nandipha Magudumana’s relationship and alleged criminal endeavors with convicted rapist, murderer, and fraudster Thabo Bester was heard in detail before the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 29 August.

Here are five unbelievable claims heard in court during the bail application.

Nandipha met Thabo Bester at Wits in 2006, where he was studying theology. This despite previous reports by Laerskool Danie Theron that Bester’s highest education was up until grade 7.

Bester paid lobola for her, despite her being a married woman,
Magadumana alleges that she and Bester began dating in 2017, and he paid lobola for her in 2020. However, Nandipha who weded Mkhuseli Magudumana in 2013 – claims she had merely separated from her husband.

Nandipha has not seen her husband or children since she left the country. Nandipha dropped off her two children at their respective schools on 15 March 2023.

Unbeknownst to her family, she then skipped the country with Bester.
According to an investigating order, she only made one call to her husband during her incarceration.
Nandipha unlawfully practiced at her medical firm, until her arrest.
The businesswoman was suspended from HPCSA in 2021. According to the regulatory body, Magudumana is not a registered doctor.

Thabo Bester ‘forced’ her to flee the country.
But the biggest bombshell of the day was Nandipha’s claim that she was forced to flee the country against her will.
She said in her statement: “I was instructed and commanded by accused five to get into a vehicle and leave the premises to a destination unknown to me at the time.

“I refused and wanted an explanation, but he forced me into a vehicle. I succumbed to the pressure due to the threats he directed at me. I complied with his instructions and was taken out of the country against my will.”

However, Nandipha states she can afford to pay the R10 000 bail should she be granted it.
She claims she will stay with a friend upon release.
The bail application continues on Wednesday, 30 August.
