It seems like the Grinch has paid a visit to the set of e-tv’s telenovela, Nikiwe, leaving the cast and production team with a not-so-jolly Christmas.
A recent letter from Parental Advisory Productions, the production company behind the show, has informed the 280 people involved that they won’t be receiving their December salaries. Talk about a lump of coal in their stockings!
The letter, signed by executive producers Lungile Radu and Thomas Gumede, explains that the channel has refused to release any additional funds for the production.
In response, the production company has sought legal counsel to fight their case, but as we all know, legal proceedings can take forever. So, there’s no guarantee of a positive outcome or a quick resolution.
Unfortunately, Nikiwe’s fate was sealed after only eight months on air, due to mismanagement of funds and low ratings.
The telenovela, featuring talented actors like Lungelo Mpangase, Clementine Mosimane, Kenneth Nkosi, and Hamilton Dlamini, will bid farewell to our screens in early 2024.
While we hope for a Christmas miracle for the cast and crew of Nikiwe, it’s a sad reality that they won’t be able to spoil their loved ones with gifts or even buy groceries this festive season. Looks like Santa won’t be the only one feeling the pinch this year.
Despite our attempts to reach out to Parental Advisory Productions for a comment, it seems they’re as elusive as Santa’s reindeer. No response from the executive producers. Maybe they’re too busy trying to find a way to save Christmas for the Nikiwe team.
