Mampintsha’s sister, Pinky Gumede, told the Daily Sun that they received a call the previous week telling them to rush to his house.

“When we arrived he looked very sick. His speech was very affected. He told us that he consulted with a sangoma and was told to do (amagobongo) traditional ceremony,” Pinki told the outlet.

Pinki revealed that they bought a goat for the ritual but Mampintsha did not arrive home for the ritual. Instead, they slaughtered the goat and ate it.

“He asked us to buy a goat and get impepho, so he could perform the ritual. We went back home and did exactly that. But he never arrived. Instead, he told us to perform the ritual without him. We were surprised by this., but couldn’t do anything. As a result, we slaughtered the goat and ate it. But we did not burn impepho,” she said.
