The fight is getting dirtier! Recently, DJ Maphorisa and Prince Kaybee found themselves at odds over the issue of master rights. DJ Maphorisa, known for his Amapiano beats, proudly asserted that he owns the songs recorded in his studio and with his equipment. However, Prince Kaybee had a different perspective.
Prince Kaybee took to Twitter to express his belief that creative projects should involve sharing intellectual property.
He questioned the idea that simply buying Nando’s and lights would entitle someone to claim ownership over an entire song. The tweet sparked a debate, with DJ Maphorisa quick to respond.
But it didn’t end there. In an Instagram live session, Maphorisa couldn’t resist taking a playful jab at Prince Kaybee.
Mocking him for constantly flaunting his eggplant, DJ Maphorisa referred to the House Music musician as a pornstar. He suggested that Prince Kaybee’s popularity only stems from his habit of exposing his private bits.
While it’s entertaining to witness these clashes in the music industry, it’s important to remember that egos can sometimes overshadow the art itself.
Both DJ Maphorisa and Prince Kaybee have made significant contributions to the South African music scene, and it would be a shame if their differences hindered collaboration and creativity.
Perhaps it’s time for these talented artists to put their egos aside and focus on what truly matters – making great music that resonates with their fans. After all, in the end, it’s the music that speaks the loudest.
