South African radio personality, Anele Mdoda, recently took to Twitter to express her disappointment and anger at Uber after one of their drivers robbed her make-up artist.
In a series of tweets, she narrated the incident, stating that her make-up artist had requested an Uber to Kempton Park. However, to their horror, the Uber driver stopped and let three armed men into the car.

The driver then proceeded to drive them to Alex, where they tied up the make-up artist and cleaned out his bank accounts. Mdoda was not only upset about the incident itself but also about Uber’s response to the situation. She claimed that Uber said they couldn’t do anything about it and considered it a dead end.

This response infuriated Mdoda, who called on Uber owners to “grow some balls” and make their app safe again. She expressed her concern about the safety of taking an Uber alone, stating that it could potentially lead to being tied up in a back room while the perpetrators clean out your bank accounts.
She also highlighted the additional risk that women face, as they are more likely to be subjected to sexual assault.
